To demonstrate what is possible in Lochaber, we have recruited some very helpful local people to be our case studies- they provide not only great examples of enthusiasm but in some instances, courage too! The Isle of Eigg is a prime example of what an empowered community can achieve, please click HERE to view a brief clip on their recent accolades and ecological achievements Please feel free to ask questions directly to our case studies by using the email facility at the bottom of each page; this triggers an email to the people involved alerting them to your question, which will be answered as soon as possible. Energy Saving Tips for the Home There are plenty of websites already that offer tips about saving energy in the home, e.g., Scottish Hydro Electric, Energy Saving Trust, Energy Saving Advice, etc. Here is a really useful idea to help you save both money and energy: Scottish Hydro have a new way to save energy called iplan. If you pay by quarterly billing or monthly fixed direct debit call 0800 107 3493 and ask to be added. They will send you a free smart energy kit to help you reduce your energy consumption and cut bills. Sign up to Hydro's "Better Plan" Tariff and save both money and energy. You will receive a free electricity monitor that tells you how much electricity you are using at any one time and how much you have saved from one day to the next. Alternatively, check out the Owl Meter, that also tells you how much carbon you have used and saved. For tips on how to save money on travel by driving more economically click here.
