Acharacle

The Sgoil na Coille site was started in 2008 and is already producing really good compost and chipped material ready to use in local gardens.

It's a really good chance for all local residents to get involved in composting on a large scale (we processed over 10 tonnes of material in the last year!). Anybody who lives locally to Salen or Acharacle can come and help.

We do kerbside collection when garden waste is collected from local residents who want to participate.  This is taken to the site to be composted.  The kerbside collection takes place every Thursday and to join in with this you need to purchase a bag (a one off payment).  Whenever you fill your bag, just leave it by the roadside and it will be collected and an empty one left for the following week.

Woody material can also be collected from your garden if you give us a ring.  This is taken to the site and is chipped to make mulch suitable for garden borders.

The site is open for you to drop off any compostable and woody material if you want to.  Please read the site notices about where to drop your bags of material.

Chipped material and compost are now available to be taken away or delivered - we have lots, so please feel free to ask about a delivery.

On the second Thursday of every month volunteers are welcome to come and help with the composting process and to have a cup of tea and a chat!  This is usually between about 12 and 3pm.

Please ring first to check there will be someone there!

The Acharacle site is run and managed by Becky Dacre.

Please call Becky on 01967 431811 for details of opening times and to find out how to get involved.
